Formed Families Together groups are peer-led support groups providing a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment for adoptive, foster, and kinship parents and caregivers to express their experiences, concerns, and frustrations as formed families. The groups offer a network to share resources and information amongst the group members, reducing feelings of isolation, and celebrating family successes in maintaining permanency for and the ongoing commitment to children. Peer support can be critical to parent and caregiver self-care and can contribute to healthy family functioning and improved outcomes for children and youth.
The groups are offered in 2 formats – in-person (3rd Wednesdays of the month from 7-8:30 PM) and virtually (1st Sundays of the month from 7:30- 9 PM). Both formats are co-facilitated by trained peer leaders who have personal and professional experience as foster and adoptive parents and kinship caregivers. Enrollment for both groups is open. There is NO CHARGE for participation in the Formed Families Together groups. Due to the continuing nature of peer support, regular group attendance is expected.
